Values 1.jpgThe story about the Kalø School of languages
Today's global society requires the individual to broaden his or her thought and outlook on the various cultures, which constitute global society. The Kalø School of languages, situated at Kalø, Denmark, provides students with a unique experience of living and studying in a multicultural environment.

At The Kalø School of Languages we consider ourselves to be a part of Europe. We embrace our European heritage by discussing topics such as literature, politics, and public welfare at an international level. Thus critical thinking is a central theme in our programme.

Living in an international society requires mutual understanding of intercultural dynamics. This outlook constitutes the concept of the Kalø School of Languages. Consequently the school is to be considered an open arena, where exercises such as discussing and experiencing global society are considered vital tools in improving the students' skills and knowledge base. Our understanding of international cultures requires a broad scope of comprehension. Though the school is an independent institution, we also rely on our domestic and international network of business partners in promoting the students' qualifications. This entails the students having the opportunity of participating in a varied range of debates, projects and gaining other experiences of life. At the Kalø School of Languages our teaching methods are based on developing the students’ skills to think critically. At the Kalø School of Languages there is room for differences of opinion - and room for thought and reflection at any level, but not for empty words. It is an active decision to choose the Kalø School of Languages. Thus we ask of our students to maintain a high level of participation in our activities.

ABOUT USHverdagen-1-300x200.jpg
The Kalø School of Languages is a popular Danish Folk High School, where young people - above the age of 17 ½ - may live and study. Lessons at the folk high schools are of a general nature and do not aim to develop qualifications for a specific educational field. Furthermore the study programme does not include exams. The goal of your stay is to improve your knowledge base and your social skills by studying and living together with other people from around the world.

The school is located in a setting of scenic beauty, including an overlook of the bay of Kalø, the hills of Mols, moreover the school is situated near Aarhus - which is the second largest city in Denmark.

We share this location with another school, the Agricultural School of Organic Farming which educates young farmers. Both schools are established junctions for young people from several countries and various cultures.
