Celebration of the Cuban Salsa and music
The Salsa Camp is now close to open it 5th years anniversary with 4 week Gala Program celebratiing the Cuban Salsa and the inspiration and joy of life the cuban salsa and music have given to the dance environments World, Europe , the Nordic countries and Denmark.
As as always, organized in a partnership between Henrik Normann, founder of Salsaclave (one of the the l
argest Cuban Salsa School in DK) and the Folke High School on Kalø.
Salsa Camp 2010 offers a colourful palette of Cuban salsa, latin dance mix, culturel workshops, social gatherings, shows, salatek and parties where some of Denmark’s best salsa bands, Little Havana and Grupo Danson and the hottest Nordic cuban salsaband, Calle Real from Sweden, will play at the Salsa Camp
Everything will be spiced up with delicious dishes from Kalø’s kitchen drawing their inspiration from the beautiful natural surroundings all mixed with a good portion of innovation.
The theme “Go Further” means, that Salsa Camp 2010 is taking one more step towards, bringing the concept to a higher perfection in order to give the participants an even better
cultural cuban salsa experience and to reach even more participants.
Thereby reaching participants not only from Denmark and the
Nordic countries but also from the rest of Europe – and Cuba.
European Week
Salsa Camp 2010 is based on the well known concept, which has been developed over the last four years with the focus on cuban salsa, eagerness to dance and the cultural meeting between European and Cuban culture. All four weeks will have their special activities and themes.
The fourth week will be an European theme week, where the objective is, among others, to give the participants the opportunity to meet dancers from all over Europe.
In most European cities a lot of different cultures from all over the world coexist. In Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo, London, Be
rlin, Hamburg, Paris, Zürich, Barcelona, Milan and other cities, it is possible as a cosmopolitan to get to know the different cultures and get inspired and inspire other people.
In this connection salsa and Cuban salsa is one of the many cultural offers which enriches life in the European Cities.
We will focus on this in week 4, where we, in a Grand Finae, will celebrate the cultural meeting between Europe and Cuban Salsa
by hosting the European Championships in Cuban Salsa. Read more
about the championships HERE.
In week four there will be further possibilities to experiment with
form and content and all classes will be given in English. _199x149.jpg)
Salsa Camp 2010 will end with a big concert and a Grand Finale Party on the 30th of July with Calle Real. The European Championships, concert and party is open to guests and the general public.
Salsa Festival + Folk High School = Salsa Camp
The concept for Salsa Camp is a mixture of the Salsa festival and the Danish Folk High School tradition.
It means that the focus is on combining salsa and dance with a
number of other Danish Folk High School subjects which can help
put dance and salsa in a perspective as being both technical,
sensitive, musical, cultural and social experience and a source of
joy in everyday life.
Every week, in Salsa Camp 2010, 18 hours of intensive dance lessons will be offered in Cuban salsa, rueda de casino, son &chacha, afromix, reggaeton, zouk and bachata as well as possibly flamenco, hip hop, modern dance, ballet, salsa and drama.
Moreover there will be a number of cultural workshops in subjects such as salsa band ensemble, Spanish, rhytm and theory,
dance culture, art history, films, excursions as well as journalism with the publication of The Salsa Camp newspaper: La Verda
d.
As something new in 2010 the High School subjects are in the morning, assuming we will be well rested.
Something new this year will be that all nights will have their
special social activity and distinctive feature beginning with the
festival tent being inaugurated Sunday evening, followed by Ladies Night Monday, Theme evening Tuesday, Barbecue evening and Open House Wednesday, The Stage is yours and Big Show Night Thursday and finally in the end the Gala party Friday.
The specific programs for the weeks will be made before the
beginning of the course. Read more about the standard
program for week 1 – 4. HERE.
Dance levels
Cuban Salsa and latin dance mix are offered on the following 5 levels:
1. Beginners
2. Intermediate
3. Advanced 1
4. Advanced 2
5. Advanced 3
This is to make sure that everybody, regardless of the dancing
level, will get the maximum from the instruction.
Moreover there is a limit of 150 participants every week consisting of 75 women and 75 men. This is in order to make sure there is room enough for everybody on the dance floor as well as to ensure the even distribution of women and men.
When enrolling please mark what level you would like to participate on. Read more about your choice of level HERE.
There must be a minimum of 12 participants on a level, with an almost even distribution of women and men before the level will be established.
